A "Healthy" Read
Hey Folks,
I know for a fact that most of you will be social media freaks, if not, at least one or the other way socially connected. After the reel feature aired in Instagram, I got tired of the background music “And it went like”. Phew, it was so irritating to see one transformation after another . Okay guys, I get it, you have lost weight , cleared your pimples etc etc. Great work.
Even when all this was kinda okay...(not really) it was the captions that gave me chills …. It was bucket loads of nonsense of how they lost the weight( not everyone but I saw quiet a few of them). These might have worked for them but I wonder how people sustain in it for a long period of time. Now now, I am no expert in this area but yeah after devouring up Rujuta Diwekar’s Don’t Lose Your Mind, Lose Your Weight, even the not so qualified layman will be able to identify what is crap and what is not.
This book was a gift from my dear friend Anu. She probably gifted the same because of my relentless and baseless talks on methods (food habits, detox drinks..many more) that I might opt in order to shed those extra inches ( I used to follow some social media accounts religiously).
Coming back to the book and the author, Rujuta Diwekar is a celebrity dietician and a yoga practitioner who has a clientele with some of the big Bollywood names (the book foreword is written by Kareena Kapoor Khan). Rujuta Diwekar has taken immense care in curating this book. Its devoid of technical jargons which makes the book way-less sophisticated as people love something which is easily conveyed and understandable.
She asks us to go back to our roots which means have foods which was usual in our homes and not into the new fancy way of eliminating everything from our table to replace it with gluten-free, diary -free ( unless you have an intolerance), eating fruits or veggies which will never fit our taste buds. Yes, her book is as simple as that. She calls out to the fad- methods that is becoming a practice and the big business made out of diet induced food items like baked chips, sugar-free icecream(seriously?!???).
There are no negatives to be mentioned as such. But her layout plans for some of her clients were given towards the end of the book, I found it a little less interesting so I somewhat skimmed through that section (guilty).
For anyone who is looking down to be a healthier version of themselves "Don't Lose Your Mind, Lose Your Weight " is the best one you can lay your hand on. I have color sticker reminders all over the book because each page has brought in so much information which I was not aware before.
Pressurized societal systems has pushed the current generation to "look" in a certain way which in turn has promoted a diet culture which has messed up their entire physical and mental well- being. This has to stop and its big time that we call out people who unnecessarily comment on someone else's physical appearance.
Live and Let Live.
Tata uh!

A.
