Cherishing the Serendipity of Love
Hey Folks,
In this one life, we meet innumerable people who may or may not have impacted us. We tend to carry all the good memories and leave out what has caused us misery. But there are some in which we cherish the good and the bad because of our love for that person. And those memories are indefinitely here to stay.
"The Stationery Shop of Tehran” took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. Choosing it just on the aesthetic cover, I never thought this off the hook book could turn into one of my favourites. This is a love story but one which dissects the dynamics of love through the varied realities of life. It portrays life's complications and seldom gives out the usually unbelievable romances that everyone is a fan of. Roya, Bahman, the Stationery shop, and their lives in the backdrop of Tehran, the capital city of Iran are the crux of this book. The intensity with which Roya and Bahman loved each other will not give you the normal fascination we get from fictional characters but it just gives us that pattern of love which is real, unprecedented and full of hope. The normal messes in a relationship are all portrayed with such ease and feel. It also gives a look at how political unrest in a country can affect the lives of countless innocent people.
The intensity with which Marjan Kamali has written this book just showed me how a simple story could impact me for a lifetime. The story is as though she has witnessed it or she was Roya. It's with that implication she has conveyed the depth of feeling to the reader.
I might be over-hyping this up. But in a world where I chose to read only unrealistic books, this book has shown me the hue of life, love, loss and the vigour of tomorrows.
This book is worth your time.
Until next time.
Tata uh!
Regards,
A.
